Birthday Celebration in Crystal Grill

Going around Bangkok, you wouldn't miss this tall building that is visible from most part of the city in clear skies. That skyscraper is actually the Baiyoke Sky Hotel.

November 23, 2007 - it was Julie's birthday, and we prepared a special surprise for her by celebrating it in Crystal Grill, located in the top floor (82nd) of Baiyoke Sky Hotel.

The dinner was buffet-style of grilled and seafood meals. It was one of the best buffet dinner I have ever dined in not just because of the location and ambience but because of the wide variety of selection that are all tasty and appetizing.

We previously reserved a table right beside the window and believe me, it is the best spot in the restaurant.

Food were of international cuisine, French, Italian, Japanese, Thai, American, Chinese, etc.

The place is very nice and romantic, classy but homey, perfect for celebration and special dinners.

Because it was supposed to be a surprise for Julie's birthday (actually ruined by the birthday girl herself - long story), we arranged for someone to sing to her.

So this is me, mom and Julie before we left the place.

So how high are we from the ground? Here's a view from our window so you can have an idea.

Included with the dinner are tickets for the revolving viewing deck so after dinner, we went up the Revolving View Point at the 84th floor. On the way up, there's this alien figure which up until now we don't understand what it is for.

This is the view from the top.

One the way down, I had the alien hold the flowers given to Julie and had a shot with it.

So how's the Baiyoke Sky Hotel, Crystal Grill and Revolving View Point experience? I should say dinner was really great and definitely one of the best. I have not eaten in a buffet with lots of seafood choices on crabs, lobster, shrimps, prawns, a selection of fishes, steaks, grilled meat, etc. which I all love. To tell you I was the one who has to surrender because of too much choices! The desert choices were however so-so, there were only a few cakes, fruits and some sweet delicacies and I didn't find any of them much exciting as the entrees. The view from the top is astonishing. Nothing else in the city will be at par in giving you unobstructed view of the city especially at night. It was also my first time to be in a revolving deck which made the experience more exciting.

Hello, I just visited Baiyoke Sky last June this year. Our family had a wonderfully gluttonous buffet dinner there. :)

By the way, thanks for the visit. You travel a lot. Care to exchange links?
